Awareness course on asbestos

Goals

The objectives of the training Awareness course on asbestos :

Personnel who carry out work in areas where asbestos may be present. These workers may include, among others, building managers or users, maintenance workers, firefighters, police officers, inspectors, installers, architects, engineers, surveyors, demolition experts, etc.

Program

Theory (5 hours)
1. Properties of asbestos and its effects on health.
2. Types, uses and possible location of materials containing asbestos in buildings and plants, facilities, etc.
3. Influence of the condition of the material on the ease with which fibres are released into the environment.
4. Procedures to follow if a material is suspected of containing asbestos.
5. General procedures in an emergency situation.
6. Function, selection and use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment.

Programme
Practical (1 hour)
1. Selection of equipment necessary for handling ACM or MSCA.
2. Selection, use and maintenance of personal protective equipment.
3. Personal decontamination procedures.
