The objectives of the training TELCO I Working at Height Course :

Be aware of the risks and preventive measures for working at height, as well as work procedures and the use of PPE.

Lesson 2. Regulations and legislation
• Safety and risk prevention in work at height: basic safety concepts
safety and general guidelines.
• PRL Law and subsidiary regulations. RD 2177/2004.
• Description of the role of the Prevention Officer.
• Functions and responsibilities of the Prevention Resource.

Lesson 3. Physics of falling
• Definitions: Impact force, Fall factor, Free fall distance, Pendulum effect
.
• Application to work situations

• Definition of PPE. Categories.
• Definition of PPE. Categories.
• RD 773/1997 and RD 1407/92
• UNE-EN standards. Definition and objectives.
• General information: Information leaflet, labelling, individual identification.
• Periodic inspection, daily inspection, maintenance and conservation standards.
• Description of the most common equipment (harness, helmet, lanyard with shock absorber, positioning lanyard, fall arrest devices, etc.)

Lesson 5. Fall protection systems
• Description and types of fall arrest systems in accordance with EN 363 (fall arrest systems and fall prevention systems).

Lesson 6. Anchorage devices
• Description and types of anchorage devices in accordance with EN 795:2012 and CEN TS 16415: 2012.

Lesson 7. Manual lifting of loads
• Safety guidelines for safe load lifting. Description of automatic locking systems for ascent and descent.
• Description of pulleys with self-locking systems.

Lesson 8. Responding to an accident
• Description of the accident response protocol (PAS).

Lesson 9. Personal protective equipment
• Identification of the most common equipment (harness, helmet, lanyard with shock absorber, positioning lanyard, fall arrest devices, etc.).
• Guidelines for the correct adjustment and fitting of equipment.

Lesson 10. Fall protection systems
• Exercises on the safe use of lanyards with shock absorbers and positioning lanyards.
• Exercises on the safe use of fall arrest devices on flexible anchor lines, in accordance with EN 353-2.
• Assembly of temporary vertical anchor lines using a telescopic pole. Use of retractable fall arrest devices, in accordance with EN 360. Types of
devices and characteristics.

Lesson 11. Risk identification
• Identification of fall risks on facades, poles, ladders and scaffolding.
• Identification of associated risks: proximity to electrical hazards and non-ionising radiation, proximity to doors, openings, work signage, etc.

• Types of manual ladders, with or without an anchor line.
• Types of manual ladders, with or without anchor line.
• Basic elements of ladders (information on the ladder, structural parts and accessories).
• Positioning the ladder. Angulation and bracing.
• Accessing and remaining on the ladder. Exercises on the safe use of portable ladders with and without anchor lines.

Lesson 13. Accessing and positioning on concrete and wooden poles
• Use of manual ladders.
• Use of the positioning lanyard.
• Application of fall arrest systems (retractable or anchor line).
• Preliminary inspection. Assessment and verification of pole safety.
• Use of climbers.

Lesson 14. Working on scaffolding
• Types of scaffolding.
• Standard configurations.
• Instructions for use.

Lesson 15. Working on MEWPs
• Types of MEWPs.
• Basic safety rules.

For who ?

Any worker in the telecommunications sector who performs tasks at heights of more than 2 m on manual ladders, fixed ladders, scaffolding, wooden poles, concrete poles and protected roofs.

Ability to read and write Spanish.
