VERDE (GBCe) certification

This tool is based on Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and assesses the reduction of environmental, social and economic impacts generated by buildings. VERDE is aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and European strategies, including the Level(s) methodology and the requirements of the European Taxonomy in its criteria.

Benefits of VERDE certification:

• Savings in maintenance: Certified buildings reduce consumption and maintenance costs.
  
• Increase in property value: Certification increases the value of the property and generates higher expectations for sale and rent, increasing profitability for investors.
  
• Reduction of CO₂ emissions: GREEN requirements guarantee that the building reduces greenhouse gas emissions and is better prepared for the effects of climate change.
  
• Lower consumption of resources: Being more efficient, certified buildings consume less water and energy, which translates into savings on bills.
  

Types of Action that can be Evaluated:

• New Building: New construction projects.
  
• Rehabilitation: Interventions involving a significant renovation of the existing building.
  
• Existing Building: Evaluation of buildings more than three years old and that have not been recently renovated.
  
• Mixed Action: Projects that combine elements of new construction and rehabilitation.

GREEN Building Certification 2022 offers a comprehensive evaluation of sustainability in buildings, promoting responsible practices in line with European guidelines on sustainable construction.

Use profiles:

• Administrative buildings: Buildings used for administrative, financial, technical or training services.
  
• Commercial buildings: Buildings used for the display and sale of goods, services or food preparation.
  
• Buildings for accommodation and lodging: hotels, student residences, retirement homes, among others.
  
• Buildings for light industry or logistics: spaces for storage, product distribution and light industry.
  
• Educational buildings: public or private primary, secondary and higher education centres.
  
• Buildings for catering services: bars, restaurants, cafés, among others.
  
• Public facilities: Facilities for sporting and cultural events, exhibitions and conferences.
  
• Premises or parts of a building: Specific assessment of commercial premises or spaces within a building.

• Private residential:
  
  • Collective residential: Buildings where more than one dwelling is built per plot.
    
  • Single-family residential: A single dwelling per plot.
    
  • Residential in a housing development: Groupings of single-family homes on different plots.
    
  • Residential: home in a building: Evaluation of a home within a collective residential building.

1. Select a GREEN Accredited Assessor (AA): At Apave we are accredited assessors and we will assist you in the evaluation of your building.
   
2. Register the building: Register your project on the GBCe platform to start the certification process.
   
3. Technical evaluation: The EA will carry out a detailed evaluation and send the results to the GBCe technical department for supervision.
   
4. Obtaining the pre-certificate: After supervision, a pre-certificate will be awarded in the project phase.
   
5. Final certificate: Once the work is finished, the final certificate is requested, which includes the evaluation of the construction phase and the issuance of the certificate and the corresponding GREEN plaque.
   

Opting for GREEN certification not only improves the quality and comfort of users, but also contributes to the environmental and economic sustainability of the built environment.
