Goals

The objectives of the training Course on EV Assistance and Towing Safety for Tow Truck Operators :

The aim is to provide staff with the necessary knowledge to intervene safely and effectively with this type of vehicle, taking into account its technical characteristics.

Program

1 Components related to hybrid and electric vehicles
- Identify the key elements of EVs to recognise risk areas and act safely when handling them.
2 Vehicle protection systems
- Understand the active and passive safety systems of EVs that affect external intervention.
3 Electrical risk
- Recognise the risk of electrocution and other consequences of high voltage, and apply appropriate preventive measures.
4 Generic risks in EVs
- Understand the additional hazards of EVs for each specific component.
5 Assessment of the environment and risks
- Analyse the scene before intervening on an EV to detect potential threats and plan a safe intervention.
6 Safe intervention procedures.
- Apply the correct operational steps to act on an EV without compromising the safety of the operator, the vehicle or the environment.
7 Quarantine area requirements in the field
- Establish the appropriate conditions for temporarily storing a potentially unstable or damaged EV after an intervention.

Practice:
Emergency response sheet and documentation
- Know how to consult and correctly use the rescue sheet and other technical documentation as a key tool for safe intervention.
Location, identification and analysis of elements in the vehicle
- Practise visual detection of electrical components, high-voltage areas and safety labels before operating the vehicle.
Loading procedure
- Correctly perform the EV loading and anchoring manoeuvre using technical means without compromising its integrity or the safety of the operator.
Intervention simulation
- Perform a complete intervention on an EV simulating a real situation to reinforce the knowledge acquired and verify safe performance.
